Growing up in the redwood forest, it is a goal of ours to use sustainable sources of lumber. All of the wood is milled locally in Santa Cruz county. The wood is all salvaged lumber either from the CZU fires or from tree service companies. This gives us piece of mind, knowing the trees are not just being cut down for lumber.

The focus while building the furniture is always quality. This is why we use extra thick lumber that measures 2.375 inches thick. These beefy pieces are fastened together with weather proof structural wood screws; wood glue is applied to every joint. Many different stain options are available for every product, our favorites are Penofin brazillian rosewood oil, and Messmers UV Plus. Both of these products do a great job repelling moisture, protecting from the sun and stopping mildew. All the end grain is sealed to prevent cracking and checking as the boards dry. With proper care for the wood, one of these pieces can outlive the customer.
